Although the U.S. military has been fighting land wars for more than a decade, building up its amphibious capabilities remains a priority. The Marine Corps Combatant Diver Course is designed to create a more lethal, responsive and well-rounded force. The students, who are mainly reconnaissance Marines, undergo the intense training in Panama City, Florida. The course includes training on open and closed circuit diving techniques, which begins in the classroom and pool, but ends with the ocean.
