We are proud to announce that Monday, August 22 at 10:30 a.m. EDT, DoDLive hosted a Bloggers Roundtable program with the 75th Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus who discussed alternative energy sources and the Navy’s energy goals.

Shortly after assuming office, in October 2009,  Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus laid out five aggressive energy goals to improve our energy security and efficiency, increase our energy independence, and help lead the nation toward a clean energy economy.  Mabus directed the Department of the Navy (DoN) to increase alternative energy ashore.  By 2020, the DoN will produce at least 50 percent of shore-based energy requirements from alternative sources and 50 percent of DoN installations will be net-zero.

To learn more about what the Navy is doing with alternative energy, visit Task Force Energy on Facebook. Task Force Energy is focused on conserving energy, developing alternative energy options, and securing energy distribution.
