The school is nearing completion and the PRT engineers assist the local Afghan government by conducting quality assurance checks on the construction project. The PRT is made up of U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force and civilians who work alongside local government officials to reconnect the people of Afghanistan with their government. Gomez is a member of the PRT Security Force element and is deployed from Company A, 1st Battalion, 143rd Infantry (Airborne) out of Austin, Texas.
