We Recently held a DoDLive Bloggers Roundtable with Army Col. John Ferrari, deputy commander for programs, NATO Training Mission – Afghanistan, Combined Security Transitions Command-Afghanistan for Thursday, Dec. 16.

Col. Ferrari discussed Coalition procured equipment given to the Afghan National Security Force to help them in their fight against insurgents in Afghanistan. He also discussed the development of Afghan industries that can supply ANSF’s equipment requirements.

We held a DoDLive Bloggers Roundtable with Lt. Gen. William B. Caldwell, IV, commander, NATO Training Mission-Afghanistan and Combined Security Transition Command, for Tuesday, Nov. 9.

Lt. Gen. Caldwell discussed the training and development of the Afghan National Security Force over the past year.

Lt. Gen. William Caldwell, commander of NATO Training Mission-Afghanistan, sat down recently with Soldiers Radio and TV reporter Gail McCabe to discuss the growth and development of his mission.  Over the past eight years, Afghanistan’s government and national security forces have changed drastically, and Caldwell expects the growth of Afghan forces to meet or exceed goals by October of next year.

We recently held  a DoDLive Bloggers Roundtable with Maj. Gen. Mike Ward, deputy commander-police, NATO Training Mission-Afghanistan on June 25.

Maj. Gen. Ward discussed how developing leaders is essential to establishing a professional Afghan National Security Force. Despite this necessity, Afghan National Police forces have not had a formal police staff college for approximately 40 years.  Therefore, NATO Training Mission-Afghanistan has set its number one priority as leader development.

Maj. Gen. Ward discussed how during the course of this year, the Afghan Ministry of Interior and with the European Union Police, have begun to design an Afghan National Police staff college that reintroduces key elements of core professional development beyond the junior officer level.

DoDLive Bloggers Roundtable: Funding and Development of ANSF

We recently held  a DoDLive Bloggers Roundtable on June 9, with U.S. Army Col. Curt A. Rauhut, Director, NATO Financial Controller/Deputy Director, CJ8.

Col. Rauhut serves as financial controller of the NATO Common Fund in support of Crisis Establishment (CE) billets within the command.  He provides financial oversight and management of donor nation contributions into the NATO Trust and Sustainment Fund in support of the Afghanistan National Army, and works closely with SHAPE HQ’s and ISAF HQ’s in determining funding policies.

As CJ8 deputy director, Col. Rauhut helps manage a joint multinational 60 person staff, and assists in the management and execution of the Afghanistan Security Force Fund. Additionally, he provides resource management advice to the commander and staff, and assists in the supervision of resource management operations to include contract requirements, budget formulation and execution.

    Royal Canadian Mounted Police assigned to a Marine Security Emergency Response Team debark from the HMCS Ville de Quebec (FFH 332) to conduct boarding operations during Exercise Frontier Sentinel 2012 May 8, 2012 at sea off Sydney, Nova Scotia. Exercise Frontier Sentinel is a combined interagency exercise involving Joint Task Force Atlantic, the U.S. Coast Guard and the U.S. Navy Fleet Forces Command. The exercise is designed to continue to develop and validate the existing plans, treaties and standard operation procedures for a bilateral response to maritime homeland defense and security threats.
