Do you have a million-dollar idea that could revolutionize how the government works?  Now there’s a quick easy way to get your idea in the right hands – and maybe walk away with a cash prize for your effort.

The White House has announced the launch of their new website, Challenge.gov, a portal for everyday citizens to offer solutions to the nation’s biggest challenges. The site is an extension of President Barack Obama’s Strategy for American Innovation, which opens government solutions to the general public.

On Challenge.gov, entrepreneurs, leading innovators and citizen solvers can compete for prizes by providing novel solutions to tough problems and, at the same time, take pride in engaging with their government to advance national priorities.

DCoE’s “A Creed for a Comrade”

The Defense Centers of Excellence for Psychological Health and Traumatic Brain Injury (DCoE) created this video to promote their “Creed for a Comrade,” a twist on the services’ creeds. The focus of their new creed is that the best answer when having a hard time is to ask for help, whether from a professional or from a friend.

Video: Gulf Oil Spill Update

Cleanup efforts near the site of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill have been halted temporarily to allow crews to evacuate in the face of an oncoming tropical storm.  The evacuation comes a few days before the storm is expected to hit because of the time it takes to gather and relocate equipment and people.

Video: National Guard to Assist Mexican Border

The National Guard is sending 1,200 citizen-soldiers and airmen who will serve alongside federal agents for one year as an augmentation force. The troops will work to prevent illegal immigration and drug trafficking north of the border, as well as to counter weapons and cash smuggling going south, Alan Bersin, U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency commissioner, said today at a Pentagon news conference.

“We’re very pleased to be in support of our interagency partners,” Air Force Gen. Craig R. McKinley, National Guard Bureau chief, said. “Our ramp-up will be over time, and we’ll make sure that all our soldiers and airmen are well qualified, well integrated and well briefed on the mission at hand.”
