Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Adm. James Winnefeld spoke about evolving security, information technology, and cybersecurity at the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association recently in Virginia. He addressed some of the Department of Defense‘s concerns about the fast paced technology industry.

Adm. Winnefeld said the key is to leverage what the market is doing at the speed of competition, but to do so within our own secure environment. He also says that we need to get away from proprietary software that creates dependencies.
