Wounded and Rifle-less in Fallujah

“This is my rifle.  There are many like it, but this one is mine.  It is my life.  I must master it as I must master my life.  Without me my rifle is useless.  Without my rifle, I am useless.” This is just a small excerpt from the Marine Corps Rifleman’s Creed. This creed is memorized by every Marine, and every Marine has to live by it.

So, it comes as no surprise that one particular Marine recalls this creed when he loses his rifle. Wounded, and with only a shotgun available to him, the Marine charges back towards the enemy to retrieve it.
