Slippery Weasel

For anyone familiar with military public affairs, you know stories about military working dogs and motorcycle safety courses are our bread and butter.

Seriously kidding there in case you didn’t catch my sarcasm.

So, when I saw this video about the Slippery Weasel course I was really excited for a new spin on an old tale. See what I did there?

All joking aside, motor vehicle safety is a serious topic that deserves a conversation with the driving members of your family, and even your troops. I may have lost my tolerance for temperatures below 70 degrees Fahrenheit when I was stationed in Hawaii, but this Colorado girl still knows the importance of winterizing my vehicle, driving SLOW on slick roads and keeping my distance from the car in front.

How would you rate your winter driving skills? How would your kids rate you?

If you aren’t stationed in Misawa, and thus can’t benefit from the course, check out this checklist[PDF] from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on how to prepare yourself, and your car, for safe winter driving.
