GraphicMembers of the 1st and 7th Space Operations Squadron took notice when an upper stage Russian rocket disintegrated in low earth orbit Oct. 16. The break up introduced an estimated 500 pieces of debris into an area where the U.S. operates a multitude of satellites, further congesting an already crowded orbit around Earth. Dang space trash.

The Army is continuing to assist with the recovery efforts of the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, and they are receiving praise for those efforts.

Adm. Jonathan Greenert presented the Vice Adm. James B. Stockdale Leadership Award to Cmdr. Chase Patrick, and Cmdr. Brian Sittlow, at the Pentagon in the Hall of Heroes Nov. 27 due to their leadership, personal initiative and exemplary performance and contribution to the overall success of the operational units they command.

The roadmap of Cpl. Elizabeth R. Morrill’s life is a long and winding one, even before she started preceding her name with Marine Corps rank. And while many Marines’ stories begin shortly after high school graduation, Morrill’s begins at the age of 26, following a rich tapestry of experiences.

Several military children were treated to quite an experience yesterday at The White House.
