GraphicThousands of volunteers, supporters, special-needs athletes and artists from all over Japan, came to Kadena Air Base, Japan, Nov. 17 to participate in or support the 13th annual Kadena Special Olympics.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is constructing a road in Helmand province, from Nawa to Lashkar Gah, that already has cut travel time in half.

To enable the Marines, sailors and soldiers to focus on the mission at hand and to alleviate the worry of constantly looking over their shoulders for an enemy threat, the Marines of Golf Company, 2nd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, Regimental Combat Team 7 are present and providing security for Operation Golden Gate.

More than 26,000 active duty and nearly 600 Full Time Support (FTS) Sailors are on their way to advancement to E4, E5 and E6 with the release of the fall Petty Officer advancement list Nov. 20. Congrats to those who were advanced!

All four active-duty services and five of the six reserve components met or exceeded their recruiting goals for fiscal 2012, officials announced today.
