GraphicSecretary of the Air Force Michael B. Donley, Chief of Staff of the Air Force Gen. Mark A. Welsh III and Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force James A. Roy issued a tri-signature “Letter to Airmen” on Nov. 5, urging Airmen to be safe during the holidays.

Waste not. It is a common adage that many people have heard throughout life, but Fort Rucker is taking the saying to heart as it implements its first Net Zero energy facility, slated for completion by the end of December.

Marines, sailors, and Japan Ground Self-Defense Force members commenced their maritime participation in Exercise Keen Sword 2013 aboard the USS Denver Nov. 8. Keen Sword, which will run until Nov. 17, is a regularly-scheduled, joint, bilateral exercise between U.S. and Japanese forces at training locations throughout Japan.

Sailor of the Year candidates from Commander Navy Region Mid-Atlantic (CNRMA) toured Norfolk’s Historic Triangle which included Colonial Williamsburg, the Yorktown Battlefield and the Mariners Museum’s USS Monitor Center, during the annual SOY competition Nov. 13.

Dakota Meyer, who was a keynote speaker at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s fifth annual “Business Steps Up: Hiring Our Heroes” event, told business leaders there yesterday that hiring veterans is a mutually beneficial practice.
