The Sharana road project is small in size, large in scope. Army Engineers are building roads to help expedite trips to hospitals and other important locations in Sharana, Afghanistan.
“The roads connect families, they connect tribes, they connect economic epicenters,” said Maj. Adam Chalmers, 9th Engineer Batallion, 172 IBCT.
The road is less than a mile in length, but it’s typical for what passes for thoroughfares in much of the country. Engineers and Afghan forces are building the way for a better life in this agricultural community.
“The Taliban and the insurgents like to destroy…But we like to build,” said Maj. Chaumbers.
