Medical Monday: On the Other Side of the Hospital Bed

From AFN Europe

“I was injured on November 15th, 2003,” said SSG Josh Forbess. “I was one of the lucky five survivors out of twenty-two.”

SSG Forbess’ transport went down when two Blackhawks collided in Iraq after taking ground fire. He spent two months in a medically induced coma, and when he woke up, he said it was “to a nightmare”.  After a long recovery and a lot of emotional, mental and physical healing, Forbess is still in uniform and helping other service members to cope with being on “the other side of the bed”.
