Female Engagement Teams

Female Engagement Teams (FETs) go where infantry men can’t. Teams of female Soldiers attach to infantry missions and provide much needed support in search and clearance operations. In many parts of Afghanistan, where interactions between unrelated males and females go against cultural norms, Female Engagement Teams are crucial during interactions with Afghan women.

    In other words, they’re the ‘gateway drug’ to female Infantry platoons.
