U.S. Army Reserve Corporal Kwami Koto, Combined Joint Task Force – Horn of Africa Civil Affairs team 4902 information manager, is a native of the Republic of Togo, Africa, and uses his experiences to engage with the people of Djibouti. Nearly 10 years ago, Koto and his wife fled their Togo home and came to the U.S. as political refugees. Koto, now an American citizen living in Denton, Texas, is currently deployed to CJTF-HOA as a civil affairs team member to conduct civil and non-combatant military operations in East Africa, aimed to strengthen defense capability, promote regional stability and dissuade conflict.
