Social Media is a progressing medium and it can provid opportunities to reach broader audiences and disperse messages faster than ever before. It’s been a great tool for many leaders to communicate to large audiences, yet there are still members of the military community who are hesitant to openly embrace this media outlet.
One leader, Lt. Gen. Jack C. Stultz, the Commander of the United States Army Reserve Command, is not only embracing it, but expressing his appreciation for what social media can accomplish. This weekend the annual Milblog Conference takes place in Washington, DC. Lt. Gen. Stultz shares a note of thanks and commitment from Lt. Gen. Jack C. Stultz, Chief of the Army Reserve, to the “mil blogging community. ”
“I wanted to share my appreciation for what you do and make a commitment to ensure that you and your followers have the accessibility you need to continue your amazing efforts.” he said. The root of social media, he says, is not in the manuals, or the message, but in the military bloggers themselves.
“You, the military bloggers, you are social media.” Lt. Gen. Stultz said. “Your passion, your candor, your willingness and dedication to something bigger than yourself is what makes blogging so powerful.”
