Moving is inevitable if you are in the military. Whether it’s across states or across countries, the number of things-to-do on your moving checklist can be daunting.

If you’re an active duty service member moving to a new location, TRICARE has made it easier for you and your family to transfer your Prime enrollment with a simple phone call! In most transfers, this means you will not have to fill out enrollment forms.

Just call your current regional health care contractor to transfer your family’s enrollment, and include a cell number and email address.  Your new regional contractor will contact you within five business days after you relocate to finalize your TRICARE transfer.

No need to worry about finding a new primary care manager (PCM) at your new location. Your enrollment transfer will include a new PCM best suited to the location of your work, home and anticipated medical needs. If you are moving within your current region, this process can be used to help you transfer to a new PCM.

From beginning to end of your move, you are continuously covered under TRICARE.  Once settled, you can confirm coverage on the Beneficiary Web Enrollment (BWE) website.  You can find this link and more information at www.tricare.mil/moving.

If you forget to notify your current regional contractor of your upcoming move – no problem. Simply reach out at your new location and your new contractor can easily transfer your enrollment via phone.

This new, easier TRICARE customer service option adds to the number of choices active duty families already have in transferring enrollment when moving. You may still transfer thru military base in-processing, online through BWE, and by downloading and completing an enrollment application to mail.  You can also visit a local TRICARE Service Center.

One of our goals is to make TRICARE more patient-friendly and consistent for you. We believe this ‘before and after’ customer service approach will do just that by creating a smooth enrollment transfer for you and your family.
