Representatives from the Defense Centers of Excellence for Psychological Health and Traumatic Brain Injury (DCoE) and the services discussed the programs and initiatives designed to assist service members and veterans diagnosed with traumatic brain injuries (TBI) on Friday, March 11.
As part of Brain Injury Awareness month, the participants discussed the latest in diagnosis, evaluation and research surrounding TBI.
The speakers are as follows:
- Kathy Helmick, deputy director for traumatic brain injury at the Defense Centers of Excellence for Psychological Health and Traumatic Brain Injury (DCoE).
- Dr. Jamie Grimes, national director of the Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Center (DVBIC)
- Dr. James Kelly, director of the National Intrepid Center of Excellence (NICoE)
- Maj. Sarah Goldman, Army traumatic brain injury program manager
- Cmdr. Jack Taso, Director, Traumatic Brain Injury Programs, US Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery
- Col. Keith Morita, chief of medical operations for the Air Force Medical Support Agency
- Cmdr. David Tarantino, director for clinical programs for Marine Corps
- Maj. Theodore Brown, preventative medicine physician, U.S. CENTCOM
