Today Secretary of Defense Robert Gates met with Chinese President Hu Jintao in Beijing to discuss China’s relationship with the U.S. Department of Defense. After the meeting, Gates held a press conference to discuss how he thinks the two nations should go forward in creating a sustainable military-to-military relationship.
Gates said the two nations should focus their strategic dialogue on nuclear, space and cyber operations as well as missile defense. Open discussion between the U.S. and China can ensure the countries’ military relations are long-lasting.
