
Richard Holbrooke (April 24, 1941 – December 13, 2010)
Richard Charles Albert Holbrooke, a top-ranking diplomat and appointee as the Special Representative on Pakistan and Afghanistan under President Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, passed away on Dec. 13.
He died in Washington, D.C., of complications during heart surgery. He was 69.
Holbrooke was a longtime diplomat whose many accomplishments include the 1995 Dayton Peace Accords that brought an end to warring factions in Bosnia.
