Family Focus: Tell Us What You Think About Your Summer Move

By Col. Mike Miller, program director, Joint Program Management Office Household Goods Systems, US  Transportation Command.

It’s hard to believe the summer is almost over! As summer draws to an end, we’ve passed the “peak of the peak” of the DoD move season, and many of you are unpacking and preparing for life in your new communities.

As you settle your children into their new schools and put the final touches on your new homes, please don’t forget to fill out your Customer Satisfaction Survey (CSS) to give feedback for your move.
The CSS is a simple 12-question, online feedback tool that directly impacts the quality of future moves for you and your comrades in arms. Most of the questions relate to how well your moving company or Transportation Service Provider (TSP) treated you during the move process.

High-rated TSPs that continue to provide the best service will get more moves in the future. In fact, CSS scores make up 50% of the TSP score, making your feedback on each and every shipment critical to making moves better for you in the future.

Also, make sure to check out the new www.move.mil, your official portal into the Defense Personal Property System (DPS).  Our website has been redesigned, complete with videos and easy-to-understand instructions.

We in the JPMO “keep pressing” to serve you better.  You are our top priority!

Don’t forget to check out www.move.mil, and feel free to let us know what you think of the new website by emailing move.mil.webmaster@ustranscom.mil, after you complete your CSS.

When a person is trying to reach for the stars, any misstep could keep them just out of reach.

Retired Air Force Col. Guion Bluford, however, didn’t let a less-than-stellar start in college stop him from becoming one of the most prominent figures in aerospace engineering as well as the first African American in space.

    Read his story here.

  • DoDLive proudly presents “Profiles in Heritage,” a series honoring the diverse warriors, leaders, and others that have served in the United States Armed Forces over the years.

February is African American History month, and this episode tells the story of Lt. Henry Ossian Flipper, the first African-American to graduate from West Point. Flipper endured harsh and unjust punishment during his time in the Army, which led to a dishonorable discharge.

Watch this episode to see how his name and honor were restored 114 years later.
