U.S. Air Force Strengthens Operations to Support Nuclear Deterrence Mission

New initiatives underway at the U.S. Air Force consolidate commands, modernize systems and strengthen human capital.  The goal is to emphasize nuclear security.  Maj. Gen. Donald Alston, Assistant Chief of Staff, Strategic Deterrence and Nuclear Integration, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, told bloggers and online journalists that post-Cold War geopolitical realities are behind the shift in focus.
