Col. Robert Forrester, director, Center for Army Lessons Learned participated in a DoDLive Bloggers Roundtable, Aug. 18 to discuss the recently published CALL Publication 09-37, Small Unit Operations in Afghanistan.
“What you will find in this handbook are specific objectives and lessons that have been learned at the small unit level that pertain to the very specific and unique set of conditions that small unit commanders will find themselves in Afghanistan,” said Forrester who further discussed with bloggers and online journalists about the handbook and how it addresses the unique set of terrain, cultural and operational challenges facing troops in Afghanistan.
The handbook, developed collaboratively with the Infantry School and Maneuver Center of Excellence, the Army Physical Fitness Research Institute, CJTF-101, and other recently redeployed OEF units, specifically addresses the unique geographic, cultural, and operational challenges platoons and companies can expect to encounter in the Afghan theater of operations.
