The SITREP: Marines Help in Wildfire Fight, Army Gets Better Boots & More

From the military services and around the DoD, here’s your SITREP for Tuesday, December 12, 2017.

  • Marines and aircraft from 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing are coordinating with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection for aerial wildfire firefighting support in northern San Diego County.
  • Next month, some soldiers within the 25th Infantry Division in Hawaii will receive new uniforms and a new set of boots as part of continued testing and evaluation of the improved hot-weather combat uniform and jungle combat boot.
  • Later this month, USNS City of Bismarck will join the fleet as part of a class of ships that is quickly becoming recognized as adaptable and innovative.
  • The Air Force gives us an inside look at the work of those responsible for keeping pilots safe.
