The SITREP: Army Showcases Stealth Vehicle, Marines Survive Cold Temps & More

General Motor's ZH2 hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle (Photo Credit: TARDEC)General Motors and the U.S. Army Tank Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center (TARDEC) revealed the Chevrolet Colorado ZH2 fuel cell electric vehicle, a concept that marries fuel cell technology and its advantages of on-board water production, exportable electric power and near silent operation with extreme off-road capability.

From the military services and around the DoD, here’s your SITREP for Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2017.

    • Army showcases its ZH2 vehicle which does not produce smoke, noise, odor or thermal signature.
    • As part of the official festivities leading up to Super Bowl LI, patrons of the game will get to see a model of the Orion space capsule which was built and tested at Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division.
    • Marines are putting their cold-weather survival skills to the test during Mountain Training Exercise 1-17 aboard the Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center Bridgeport, Calif.
    • Fifteen years after a 17-hour battle on an Afghan mountaintop, a pararescueman’s extraordinary heroism was recognized with an Air Force Cross, upgraded from a Silver Star, following a service-wide review of medals awarded since 9/11.
