Stability and Security

Two nations coming together to work as a team for the greater good. Exercise Balikatan is a bilateral training exercise aimed at improving cooperation between the U.S. and Philippines, as well as strengthening their ability to respond to natural disasters with humanitarian aid. The over-arching motive for this exercise is focus on addressing “non-traditional threats”.

Since the disasterous typhoon Haiyan, the Philippines have been focused on improving the security and stability of their country in case such an incident happens again. A training exercise such as Balikatan is most certainly the right step.
