On Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011, we held a DoDLive Bloggers Roundtable with TSgt. Robert Gutierrez, the brave Air Force Special Tactics Combat Controller who is only the fourth airman to receive the nation’s second highest award for valor during a combat action, the Air Force Cross.
Gutierrez was shot and wounded during a firefight and lost nearly half the blood in his body, yet he continued fighting and is credited with saving the lives of a dozen U.S. soldiers in his Special Forces unit.
Joining us on the call were Dale Kissinger, of Military Avenue; Chuck Simmins, America’s North Shore Journal; Amy McCullough, of Air Force Magazine; Mel Gray, of Air Force Times; Adam Hebert, of Air Force Magazine; Scott Fontaine, of Air Force Times.
