This week President Barack Obama awarded the U.S. Air Force Academy Falcons football team with the Commander in Chief’s Trophy in a White House ceremony.

The Department of Defense launched the Safe Helpline, a way to receive help for yourself or others after being assaulted sexually. By calling 1-877-995-5247, texting 55427 (in the U.S.) or visiting the Safe Helpline website, service members can get easy, free, anonymous access to counselors and other sexual assault resources any time, day or night.

The DoD and State Department have discontinued the Voluntary Authorized Departure orders for American families living in Japan after finding that the situation there doesn’t pose a threat. Families who returned to the United States under the departure authorization will be receiving information soon on their return to Japan.

April is the Month of the Military Child. Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Military Community and Family Policy Robert L. Gordon III and Deborah Mullen, wife of Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Adm. Mike Mullen, spoke at a summit this week on issues facing military children today — especially in education.
